OUR GOALS

Foundation Goals

Rocky Mountain Charter School Foundation's goals support the establishment and development of Rocky Mountain Charter School and the distinctive educational vision upon which the school was approved.

At the centre of that vision is an integrated approach to food, nutrition, health, and wellness, explored through Alberta's curriculum, STEAM, sustainable agriculture, global technology, and meaningful experiential learning.

BUILD FOOD & NUTRITION LITERACY

Develop an educational environment in which students build a meaningful understanding of food — its properties, nutritional value, origins, preparation, and its relationship to human health and wellbeing.

SUPPORT THE WHOLE STUDENT

Create conditions that support students' academic, physical, social, emotional, and personal development, recognizing that wellbeing and learning are closely connected.

LEARN THROUGH EXPERIENCE

Create opportunities for students to investigate, experiment, grow, prepare, design, build, research, collaborate, and apply classroom knowledge through practical and real-world experiences.

CONNECT LEARNING ACROSS DISCIPLINES

Support an interdisciplinary model that connects Alberta's curriculum with food and nutrition, science, mathematics, the arts, technology, sustainable agriculture, and other areas of learning.

PREPARE STUDENTS FOR A CHANGING WORLD

Develop curious, capable, adaptable learners who can think critically, use technology responsibly, solve problems, evaluate information, and continue learning throughout their lives.

BUILD CONNECTIONS BEYOND THE CLASSROOM

Develop meaningful relationships with families, communities, educational institutions, agriculture and industry partners, researchers, and other organizations that can enrich student learning and contribute to broader societal knowledge.

FROM GOALS TO ACTION

These goals provide a framework for the Foundation's work as RMCS moves from educational vision toward implementation. As facilities, partnerships, programming, and resources are developed, the Foundation will continue working to support the establishment of a school capable of bringing this vision to life.
