**Update on 1020 68 Ave NE School Zoning Decision -
Apr 21, 2026**
Dear Parents and Families,
We are writing to provide you with an important update regarding the zoning decision for the proposed school location at 1020 68 Ave NE on Tuesday, Apr 21, 2026.
Unfortunately, the decision rendered did not go in our favour. While this is disappointing, we want to emphasize that this represents a temporary setback rather than the end of our efforts. The site remains highly suitable for our school operations, and we are actively preparing to reapproach the City to address the concerns raised during the review process.
On a more positive note, there have been important developments at the provincial level that will benefit charter schools like ours. The Government of Alberta has legislated that charter schools will have equal rights of access to school reserve lands, similar to public and separate school boards across the province. This is a significant step forward. It means that in the near future, charter schools such as ours will be able to secure land within Calgary communities—particularly in newer developments—and build school facilities specifically designed to meet the needs of students and fulfill the unique mandate of our charter.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Government of Alberta for this progress, including Premier Danielle Smith, the government caucus, Minister of Municipal Affairs Dan Williams for introducing Bill 28, Minister of Education Demetrios Nicolaides for approving our charter and introducing Bill 25 and Bill 51, and Minister Mickey Amery for introducing Bill 9, which strengthens protections for youth.
We also sincerely thank all families who have applied to register for September 2026. Your interest and support mean a great deal to us and continue to demonstrate the strong need for our school within the community.
At this time, while we remain hopeful that zoning approval may still be achieved in time for a September 2026 opening, we encourage families to make alternate school arrangements for their children to ensure continuity in their education.
Please be assured that we are continuing to work diligently to secure a suitable school building and move this project forward for the benefit of our students and families. We will keep you informed as developments occur.
Thank you again for your patience, understanding, and ongoing support.
